چکیده

This paper proposes a pitch estimation algorithm that is based on optimal harmonic model fitting. The algorithm operates directly on the time-domain signal and has a relatively simple mathematical background. To increase its efficiency and accuracy, the algorithm is applied in combination with an autocorrelation-based initialization phase. For testing purposes we compare its performance on pitch-annotated corpora with several conventional time-domain pitch estimation algorithms, and also with a recently proposed one. The results show that even the autocorrelation-based first phase significantly outperforms the traditional methods, and also slightly the recently proposed yin algorithm. After applying the second phase – the harmonic approximation step – the amount of errors can be further reduced by about 20% relative to the error obtained in the first phase.

Optimal Estimation of Harmonic Components Using ISFLA

In this paper a novel method based on evolutionary algorithms is presented to estimate the harmonic components. In general, the optimization of the harmonic estimation process is a multi-component problem, in which evaluation of the phase and harmonic frequency is the nonlinear part of the problem and is solved based on the mathematical and evolutionary methods; while estimation of amplitude of...

Short Time Algorithm of Power Waveforms Fundamental Harmonic Estimation with Use of Prony’s Methods

This paper presents an example of practical use of Prony’s method for monitoring of power waveform fundamental harmonic fluctuations, which is required for the analysis of window synchronizations in frequency analyses in power monitoring systems. The example presented offers verification of the authors' theoretical considerations published earlier in articles about Prony’s method and its opport...

Frequency and Damping Estimation Methods – an Overview

This overview paper presents and compares different methods traditionally used for estimating damped sinusoid parameters. Firstly, direct nonlinear least squares fitting the signal model in the time and frequency domains are described. Next, possible applications of the Hilbert transform for signal demodulation are presented. Then, a wide range of autoregressive modelling methods, valid for dam...

Frequency versus Time D O M a I N Parameter Estimation: Application to a Slot Milling Operation

The time domain recursive least squares estimation of parameters in the presence of additive output noise of harmonic form leads to biased estimates. However, frequency domain least squares parameter estimation, where the frequency range contaminated by the noise is eliminated, can be used to obtain good parameter estimates. Both the time domain and frequency domain methods are described, and a...

Distortion Analysis of Analog-to-Digital Converter by IDFT and Least-Squares fitting algorithm

This paper compares two basic procedures used in estimations of the significant components in the residual spectrum in the ADC dynamic testing. The properties of the weighted DFT interpolations for the frequency, amplitude, and phase estimations in order to reduce the leakage effect of the fundamental component in the investigation of the residual spectrum is described. The nonparametric interp...
